INDIAN INITIATIVES OF ARMAMENT

Indian Arms development: to establish hegemony and control over neighbours:

the following facts are noteworthy:

1. front line kilo class Russain submarines
2. has built 2 Hunter Killer submarines under licence from germany
3. purcahsal of the Hawk Trainer aircraft form UK
4. purchasal of 40 multipurpose Sukhoi 30 aircrafts
5. deployment of Agni Missiles
6. deployment of the Pakistan-specific Prithvi missiles - range: 250 km and capable of carrying 1 tonne of conventional or nuclear warhead
7. capabilty to develop an Interanational range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) through the Agni System
8. Test launching of Surface-to-air missile Trishul that is equivalent to the US Patriot Missile
9. no restraint in the nuclear programme - tested nuclear arsenals in October 1974 and May 1988
10. refusal to sign the Comprehensive Test ban Treaty (CTBT)

Co-operation between Tel Aviv and New Delhi in the military related field: an Israeli offer to sell its latest KIFR jet-fighters to India
pakistan has demonstrated matching nuclear capability but teh ratio between conventional war magntiudes remains 1:3.
