RESOLUTION OF THE INDO-PAK CONFLICT IN LIGHT OF GLOBAL NUCLEAR DISARMAMENT

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. The UN should organise a special commission on Kashmir with US, RUssia, Japan, Saudi Arabia, European Committe and China besides India and Pakistan as members
2. The Un should develop an effective mechanism to implement its resolutions on Kashmir
3. The UN should develop an effective system of security for smaller nations in South Asia against possible aggression and heavy armament of India
4. Non-governmental organistaions both at the international level such as the PUGWASH and ISODARCO and at the regional level such as the Khwarzimic Science Society must participate in solution searching
5. US should adopt a even-handed policy between India nad Pakistan and do away with the ammendments like the Pressler Ammendment
6. The introduction of disarmament initiatives coupled with positive economic development packages addressing the real development needs of the nations. Negative and punitive moods create emotional reactions. Hard liners make the job of well intentioned leadres difficult.
7. A programme should be started to develop tals with between India and Pakistan under the aegis of the UN like the SALT and the START.
