The deadline for registering for the workshop is now over. We have received more than a hundred applicants and are now shortlisting a limited number of participants. Preference will be given to KSS Members.

Introduction

The National Workshop on Crystal Structure Determination Using Powder X-ray Diffraction will be a three-day intensive course for students of materials science, physics, chemistry, biology, metallurgy and engineering as well as Faculty Members and researchers who are interested in using X-rays to determine crystal structures of powder samples.

The major themes that will be taken up in this Workshop will include:

  1. Elements of symmetry
  2. Lattices and Crystal Structures
  3. Physics of Diffraction
  4. Structure Determination
  5. Structure Refinement
  6. Exotic Topics

The course will comprise one hour lectures spread over a three day duration. Computer and manual exercises, worksheet problems and interactive question and answer sessions will be built into the programme.

Registration deadline is now over.

The number of participants in this workshop is limited. Priority will be given to Khwarzimic Science Society (KSS) and Pakistan Physical Society (PPS) Members. The last date for registration is 10 August, 2007. The registration fee should also be received before the deadline of 10 August.

The fee structure for the different categories is:

Students

Rs. 500

Organizations / Non-students

Rs. 2000

KSS Members

Will be offered a 20 percent discount and will be given preference in the registration process.

The registration fee can be paid through pay order, bank transfer, cheque or could be handed in cash to the Organizing Committee.

The participants cannot be offered any overnight accommodation or travel stipends and all expenses for travel and accommodation must be borne out by the participant or his/her organization.

The participants will be provided with lunch and refreshments, alongwith workshop handoutss Computer facilities for practice will also be available.
